Course No. PK11
Poka Yoke (Mistake Proofing) Concepts and Examples
Description:
Poka Yoke is a methodology to prevent mistakes from happening in the first place. Traditional inspections, or Statistical Process Control methods focus on detecting errors / defects, but cannot really prevent them. The Poka Yoke approach detects problems before or as they occur and prevents them from turning into mistakes / errors / defects. A sound production system cannot be effective without good Poka Yoke systems. The seminar is conducted with hands on exercises where participants work in a simulated factory, identifying the right Poka Yoke, and implementing the same.
Benefits:
- Operators / technicians / employees understand what Poka Yoke is, and how it can be implemented
- Eliminates re-work and the hidden factory
- If implemented correctly, products are manufactured with no defects
- Production operations run smoother and require fewer support staff
Topics Covered:
- Overview of traditional methods for quality improvement
- Poka Yoke methods, and how they differ from the traditional methods
- Identifying locations where Poka Yoke will benefit the most
