Course No. FM11
Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Description:
FMEA is a structured approach to studying and quantifying the risk involved in any product, process, service, system, or situation. When properly conducted and implemented, this method can find and eliminate major sources of risk in whatever it is applied to. FMEA originated in the aerospace industry, but its use has been progressively spreading across many industries, and is now a requirement under QS 9000. The workshop comprises of discussion of the methods, and hands on interactive application with participants work in teams, playing different roles required for FMEA, in an atmosphere that promotes rapid learning.
Benefits:
- Identify and eliminate potential for risk of failure before it can occur
- Quantify the level of risk using a comprehensive analytical approach
- Understand what it takes to do FMEA
- Know when is the best time to do different kinds of FMEA
- Comply with the requirements of QS 9000
Topics Covered:
- A brief history of FMEA
- Why, and when to conduct FMEA
